Check out The Spa at Sec-he in Palm Springs, a haven for relaxation and rejuvenation.

The Spa at Sec-he is a crown jewel in downtown Palm Springs. This 5-star spa was recently named the Number One Spa in the United States. Its name comes from the Cahuilla language, sec-he meaning the sound of boiling water.

With my second visit there, I can say confidently that The Spa at Sec-he is a beautiful space. My best friend and I recently spent seven hours there in an incredible sanctuary and came out relaxed and refreshed.

The Spa at Sec-he Hot Mineral Springs:

Since the 1910s, the hot mineral springs have been safeguarded by the Agua Caliente in Palm Springs. 8,000 feet below the surface, the mineral-rich water reaches the surface at 105 degrees and is renowned for its therapeutic properties.

The Spa the Sec-he has 22 private hot mineral tubs, allowing guests to bathe alone in their room for 15 minutes in the healing water. After each session, the tubs are emptied and refilled.

We noticed how smooth our skin felt at the end of the day. Wondering why, we researched the benefits of mineral springs. To our surprise, mineral water helps with  unclogging pores—especially where areas have hard water and soap residue build-up on your skin. It is also known for easing joint and muscle aches.

PRO TIP:  Leave your jewelry at home, as the mineral content in the water can tarnish it.

Eight Massage Options:

Daniel Spencer, The Spa at Sec-he’s Director, has meticulously curated a selection of eight massage styles. He then ensured the staff received the proper training. Whether you choose the Quartz and Poultice massage, the Therapeutic Massage or the Restoring Energy Massage, incorporated with sandalwood and peppermint essences, you’ll likely come out feeling relaxed and at peace with the world.

Body Scrubs and Wraps:

There are a wide array of body treatments available. Each treatment is administered on a heated quartz bed that resembles the feeling of warm sand on a tropical beach. Afterward, head to the eucalyptus steam room from a menthol sauna before an aromatherapy shower.

Salon Services:

Here, you can have a facial with indigenous herbs rich in minerals and botanical extracts. They offer hair and nail care–This is the one area where children under 18 are allowed to use.

Salt Rooms:

There are two salt rooms in the serenity area. One has four lounge chairs so you can stretch out, relax and enjoy the recommended 30-minute session there.

The second salt room is reminiscent of seating like in a sauna. You can unwind with your friends and enjoy a session as you feel your sinuses opening.

A Grounding Room:

One of my favorite rooms is the grounding room. Copper is woven into the carpets and the zero-gravity chairs quietly vibrate as you lower your head and raise your feet. I can only imagine how great this would be after getting off a long airplane flight.

Meditation Room:

If you want to put on the earphones and listen to  quiet meditation, you can do that in a lounge chair provided in the meditation room  in any comfortable position.

Lounge Areas:

The Spa at Sec-he has many lounges, each lounge has comfy sofas, complete with decorative pillows and selections of citrus and hibiscus- infused water.

Snacks include tasty date bars topped with coconut and almond slivers. Dried apricots and mini pretzels. Across the room, on another side table, a bowl of citrus fruit and bananas were available for a snack whenever you felt like it.

Dining at The Spa at Sec-he:

The Malmal Café offers Mediterranean-inspired dishes. The public is invited to enter this part of the building during the spa hours of 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The salads are large, inventive, healthy and delicious.

Malmal Café also has a long list of smoothie selections. I am partial to the Monkey Berry made of bananas, strawberries, low-fat yogurt, milk, and latte powder. However, my friend wanted an entirely different mixture that was not mentioned on the menu and they graciously made it to her preference.

If you’re hungry while sitting poolside, Malmal Café serviced the pool areas so grab a menu and order a refreshing drink and light bite; it will be delivered wherever you sit.I highly recommend the warm chicken panini with avocado, swiss cheese, tomato, and pesto mayo.

Pools at The Spa at Sec-he:

The pool has a 17,000 square foot deck area with numerous lounge chairs throughout the area and umbrellas to help protect us from the summer heat. The large cabanas and the oversized lounge chairs, which hold two, have to be reserved.

Day Pass:

Buying a Day Pass for $125 Monday-Thursday, or $145 any other day, is a wonderful way to spend a day with a friend or to go solo to relax and unwind. You can access all the mentioned spaces, including a 15-minute “taking of the waters” in a private room.

Finally, The Spa at Sec-he works diligently to honor the environment. Every aspect of the space building has sustainability in mind. Bamboo products are used and all the natural woods and indigenous materials make this massive 45,000 ft. structure seem intimate with inviting energy that makes you want to plan your next visit.
