A stay in Sedona offers scenic spots that are breathtakingly beautiful and sure to lift your spirits.

The red rocks gleamed under the sparkling sun as it slowly crept over the top of the mountain. Sedona never ceases to surprise even the most seasoned traveler with its unending vistas and gorgeous views.

The striking scenery provides endless opportunities for travelers on vacation to connect with nature in a myriad of ways from spa treatments to psychic readings to hiking the majestic rocks.

Sedona is known for its spectacular red sedimentary rock formations that come from ancient sandstone. Vacationers can take organized tours or  drive their own car up Schnebly Hill to see the bright, sunset-hue sandstone formations. There are plenty of parking spots adjacent to hiking trails that will dazzle your senses.

A favorite location of mine that caters to all ages is Red Rock State Park. A 286-acre nature preserve with trails that wind around the stunning canyon routes, Manzanita and Juniper. Visitors can walk along lush green meadows on twisty trails to arrive at the banks of Oak Creek, where on a quiet morning they will be treated to wildlife viewings, too.

A wonderful option, especially for those who often seek out scenic photo spots, is Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Drive, which showcases brilliant rock formations, larger than life cliffs and lush forests along Highway 89A. Be sure to bring a swimsuit as there are places to enjoy the sparkling water.

For vacationers that opt to fly to Sedona from Scottsdale, it is a quick flight that lands on a mesa and has a stunning 3 mile trail with beautiful views. Surprisingly enough, the airport restaurant, the Mesa Grill, is unlike what you might imagine, with amazing views of the Sedona terrain in the background and helicopter landings and jet runways right outside your window.

STAY:

A stay in Sedona presents the ultimate opportunity for the unique combination of relaxation and adventure. The Wilde Resort and Spa is making a name for itself as one of the newer properties that presents a plethora of activities from nearby hiking trails to the second largest spa in Sedona.

Some of the rooms offer red rock views and outdoor areas which are wonderful for gazing at the night sky. They also have a heated pool, hot tub, lawn games, rooftop terrace, workout facilities and a restaurant on the property.

Sedona is host to a few wineries, such as Alcantara Vineyards and Winery, Page Springs Cellars, and Caduceus Cellars & Merkin Vineyards Tasting Room.

One of the tours the hotel provides includes a kayak trip to a wine tasting in the Verde Valley, which is a unique way to enjoy the scenery and have a special experience in the backdrop of red rock formations.

Another great option is the Amara Resort and Spa, which is located at the foot of Uptown Sedona right by the creek. The resort recently underwent a renovation where they incorporated nature into the experience by encompassing five elements: earth, wood, metal, fire and water.

Located in a wonderful location Amara has the combination of peace, serenity and beautiful views and is within walking distance from all the shops and excitement that Sedona offers.
