“2022 marks our 25th year in South Coast Plaza, and we cannot think of a better way to celebrate this moment than by moving into a new home,” Robert B. Chavez, Hermès USA President and CEO, says.
The boutique reflects Southern California’s coastal ambience, combining the colors and textures of the sea, sand, sky and mountains with Hermès’ French spirit. The main exterior entrance features a dramatic mural of clay and terracotta tones that form a gradient.
Inside, colorful silk signature scarves beckon, leading to a series of salons devoted to leather, jewelry, home, men and women’s fashion, shoes, ties, makeup and fragrances. Works of art, including pieces by Filipe Jardim, Suzel Caspard and Marion Dubier Clark, underscore the connection to the ocean.

A CENTURY OF COLLECTIONS

One of the world’s most prestigious Italian jewelers, Buccellati, has arrived in Orange County at South Coast Plaza. Known for opulent collections, the Italian luxury house began when jeweler and goldsmith Mario Buccellati opened his first namesake boutique in Milan in 1919, offering his designs inspired by antique techniques during the Renaissance, the Middle Ages and Byzantium.
More than a century later, his legacy lives on at the boutique, thanks to the stewardship of the Buccellati family. The jewelry collections reflect intricate artisanship, including hand-striated gold surfaces, hand-twisted precious metals, spectacular gems, honeycomb patterns, and much more, making the brand a choice of celebrities such as Rihanna, Léa Seydoux, Celine Dion and supermodels Natalia Vodianova and Lais Ribeiro.

In 1979, Southern California-based arts philanthropist and South Coast Plaza co-founder Henry T. Segerstrom commissioned legendary sculptor Isamu Noguchi to create a monumental work of art in Costa Mesa. Known as one of Noguchi’s masterpieces, “California Scenario” was completed 40 years ago and remains one of California’s preeminent sculpture gardens. In honor of South Coast Plaza’s 55th anniversary and the garden’s 40th this year, the shopping center pays homage to the timelessness of Noguchi’s tour de force in a special spring fashion lookbook featuring supermodel Fernanda Ly.
