Four generations of fine furniture.
Os Berke Kababulut, Lazzoni’s owner for US operations, is a proud fourth-generation family business owner, following in the footsteps of his great grandfather, who started it all in 1897. His great grandfather, Laz Hasan, was a carpenter from the Black Sea coastal region of Turkey who built Serander houses—all-wood homes built high up from the ground.
“It’s made with all wooden joinery, no metal, no screws. It’s a very unique design, and it’s still there,” Kababulut says. “There are Serander houses in the Black Sea region that are still standing.”
“My great grandfather was a master of Serander houses. He was a craftsman, a real artisan and he taught his art to my grandfather, who moved from the Black Sea region to Ankara, the capital of Turkey,” he added.

Kababulut’s grandfather Osman opened up his own shop in the 1960s, Bulut Kolektif, where he created the first modular kitchen cabinetry in Turkey. His son (and Kababulut’s father) started what is today Lazzoni, with modern furniture pieces and one-of-a-kind handcrafted vintage articles.
“We opened our first location in the US in New York City, in the Chelsea area, and now we have 10 showrooms in the US and about 35 globally, and we’re opening up in London this month,” Kababulut says. “We can customize everything to the inch, clients are very much involved in the design process where they make it their own.”
