Mindful Multi-Use Makeup

Axiology Balmies
Say goodbye to wasteful packaging and hello to sustainable multi-use makeup. The Axiology Balmies are made with clean ingredients, zero plastic, and they can act as lipstick, blush or eyeshadow.

How many makeup products do you see sold wrapped in plastic packaging, or even worse, plastic wrapped in plastic? With around 7.9 billion units of rigid plastic manufactured each year for beauty products alone, it can seem nearly impossible to find makeup with recyclable or sustainable packaging. The Axiology Balmies are here to change that with zero-waste packaging made from recycled paper waste. Plus, each Balmie can replace three different types of makeup in your collection—lipstick, eyeshadow and blush.

Not only do the Balmies forgo the plastic in favor of recyclable paper packaging, they are also 100-percent vegan and cruelty free, made with clean and natural ingredients. The multi-use crayons only have nine ingredients, including nourishing elderberry, hemp and plum oil. Plastic isn’t the only ingredient they kept out of the makeup production process—the Balmies are made without parabens, perfumes, alcohol, dyes, palm oil, lanolin or carmine. And because they’re vegan, you won’t find any animal-derived squalane in the ingredient list.

Not only do the Balmies forgo the plastic in favor of recyclable paper packaging, they are also 100-percent vegan and cruelty free, made with clean and natural ingredients.

The self-proclaimed “world’s first tube and cap free multi-use crayons” are available in six different color varieties, so you can be sure to find one that complements your complexion. Axiology says their Balmies contain the typical .12 ounces of product that a standard lipstick has, but it appears much smaller without the bulky outer packaging. To use the Balmies, simply apply the product to your lips, eyes or cheeks and blend with your fingers, tear the paper as needed and keep them stored in the outer cardboard packaging when you’re not using it.

Axiology was founded in 2013 after owner Erika discovered that a number of the lipsticks she owned weren’t cruelty free, and the vegan options available were dry and disappointing. Today, the brand is making a name for itself and is a Byrdie award winner for The Best Affordable Eco-Friendly Beauty Products.
