Very few home decor brands have established a signature style as identifiable as that of MacKenzie-Childs. The ICONIC “Courtly Check” black-and-white checkerboard print has become synonymous with the brand.
MacKenzie-Childs was created in 1983. What started as a small ceramics studio in New York under the name Victoria and Richard MacKenzie Childs, Ltd., later blossomed into a renowned household name of ceramics and home decor—largely thanks to origination of the ICONIC checkerboard print that emerged in the mid-1990s.
In the Valley, it’s not hard to find MacKenzie-Childs — if you know where to look. Cornelia Park, which is located in Biltmore Fashion Park, houses the country’s most extensive independent collection of the brand’s glass, pottery, enamel, furniture and rugs. Opened in 1980, Cornelia Park has become a hub for wedding registries, holiday shopping and even everyday gifting.

Alli Rosepink, who bought Cornelia Park three years ago with her husband, says the brand has resonated with customers for decades because of its timeless feel.
“Black and white goes with any decor, so it could go in a traditional home, it can go in a country home, it can go in a very modern home. I think that’s one of the reasons [why] it just fits any decor style,” she says.
While trends in home decor may come and go, MacKenzie-Childs has continued to rise above fleeting styles. With its unmistakable patterns and curated design, the brand has remained both nostalgic and authentic — serving as a reminder that great design doesn’t have to change to stay relevant.
