The bumper sticker mantra, “Keep Austin Weird” has just been updated. With the influx of techies and foodies into the Lone Star’s capital city, there is now more effervescence than eccentricity. This is not to say that any flavor has been lost though, actually it’s quite the contrary.
With that in mind, it has been time well spent in the kitchen for Kimbal Musk with the recent launch of his popular The Kitchen Cookbook and the opening of the fourth location of his celebrated New American bistro, The Kitchen.
The gorgeous 8,300-square-foot restaurant space was designed by Austin firm, Michael Hsu Office of Architecture.

The Kitchen serves lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, utilizing charcoal-fired basque grills, ovens, and rotisseries. Executive Chef Michael Bertozzi will be serving specialties such as crispy cauliflower with mango and chutneys as well as making us hungry for more with dishes like Akaushi beef, grilled oysters, gnocchi bolognese, lamb arayes, and Urfa carrots.
The bar menu creates thirst upon reading with cocktail selections such as Kimbal’s Perfect Negroni to an Old Fashioned made with Garrison Brothers Small Batch bourbon from Texas, Okinawa Kokuto sugar, Earl Grey tea and a smokey finish. No need to fret for the loss of the local as this menu speaks Austinese with familiar Ranch Water and Mexican martinis to relax you in your boots.
