Beautiful on the inside and out describes both the designer and her projects.
While she does many styles well, her look is distinct and you know it when you see it. Jamie Herzlinger, ASID interior designer, has led the luxury interiors scene locally and internationally with her signature blending of eclectic looks, which work together under a central theme. Self-described as classically modern, Herzlinger’s style is sophisticated, elegant, and inviting. What looks great in a photo shoot plays well in her clients’ daily lives, reflecting refined living with a fresh approach.

Herzlinger is well-known for demanding excellence for her clients down to every detail. She is a fourth-generation New Yorker with fashion and style in her blood; her father was successful in the garment district in New York, and at an early age Herzlinger developed a discerning eye for classic fabrics that would stand the test of time.
While her career began as a clothing designer, she eventually changed paths and launched her interior design firm in the early 1990s. Here, we caught up with Herzlinger to hear all about what inspires her and what’s next for the dynamic designer.
When did you realize your PASSION for design?
I realized my passion for design when I was a small child and would take my clothes and re-style them. Either I would fringe out the bottom of my jeans or create holes in them. I put different colored laces in my sneakers and ripped my T-shirts. I was a whiz with a bottle of bleach.
What INSPIRES you?
Being on streets in major cities. When I see what’s going on in fashion, for me it immediately translates into home furnishings.
Where do you feel you’ve shown INNOVATION in your design?
Most of my projects are fully gutted remodels or building new from the ground up. That’s where I shine.

I feel most creative around my extensive interiors library. I feel most creative immersed in a city where another language is spoken and looking at online sites like ICONIC, where I can see the best of everything in one minute!
