Ihave seen viral videos on social media about The Italiano, so when I was given the opportunity to dine there and experience their new summer menu offerings, my answer was a resounding yes. I booked the date, told my fiancé to be ready at 6:30 p.m., and walked through the doors excited and hungry.
For those unfamiliar with The Italiano, it is a charming Italian restaurant in Scottsdale that opened last year under the direction of the renowned chef Joey Maggiore. Well-known for its striking interior and painted sky on the ceiling, the restaurant transports you to an al fresco dining experience in the streets of Italy.
The table was set with a beautiful blue mosaic plate and silverware featuring antique accents. Although these are minute details, they elevate the experience and set the tone for a luxurious evening.

I indulged in a light glass of Chianti– my favorite. My fiancé opted for a cappuccino, which came with a chocolate biscuit and two sugars. Our server walked us through the menu and highlighted some of his favorite dishes, one of which was the Italiano beignets & prosciutto —a dough pastry topped with Italian prosciutto and honeycomb. The juxtaposition of the prosciutto with the sweetness of the honeycomb was a delicious combination that had me coming back for seconds and thirds.
For our mains, we ordered lobster ravioli and short rib lasagna. Each dish was divine in its own way; the ravioli burst with flavor from the herb-whipped mascarpone, cognac and bisque demi. As soon as you took a bite, the taste of fresh lobster greeted you, followed by the hint of sweetness and airy texture of the mascarpone, and ended with the creamy sensation of the bisque demi. The meal was balanced and bursting with piquancy.
While I didn’t try the lasagna myself, my fiancé described it as a perfect execution of an Italian classic.
I ended the evening with a tiramisu and cappuccino; the dessert came out beautifully, with ladyfingers shielding the mascarpone and coffee-soaked ladyfingers. It was the perfect ending to an incredible evening.
Other notable menu additions include Eggplant & Zucchini Napoletana, Capellini & Jumbo Prawns, NY Strip Tagliata, and Pan-Roasted Halibut.
