From Vault to Screen: Tiffany’s Rare Jewels Shine in Netflix’s Frankenstein

Tiffany & Co. partners with Netflix and costume designer Kate Hawley to feature 27 archival and original jewels in Guillermo del Toro’s lavish new adaptation of Frankenstein — proving that luxury storytelling lives in the details.

When it comes to cinematic storytelling, the details, whether big or small, often speak louder than words. In a groundbreaking move that bridges nearly two centuries of jewelry artistry with contemporary filmmaking, Tiffany & Co. has partnered with Netflix to showcase its legendary pieces in Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro’s highly anticipated adaptation of Frankenstein.

For a film set in the 1850s, an era that coincides with Tiffany’s early decades, the timing couldn’t be more kismet. The partnership allows audiences to witness authentic period pieces that were actually crafted during the film’s historical setting, creating a layer of authenticity. Working closely with costume designer Kate Hawley, known for her innovative approach to character development through fashion, Tiffany & Co. contributed 27 carefully curated pieces that span the breadth of the House’s creative legacy. Hawley’s vision combined bespoke textile designs inspired by organic forms with meticulously selected jewels, ensuring each piece serves as more than mere decoration, but as extensions of the characters’ inner worlds.

That vision came fully to life, with a final collection as breathtaking in its diversity as in its beauty. Ten historic jewels, six archival silver objects, six contemporary pieces and five original creations crafted exclusively for the film together form the visual language of Frankenstein. By lending pieces that range from archival treasures to contemporary high jewelry, Tiffany illustrates how its past and present are in constant conversation.

Among the collection are necklaces, rings, bracelets, brooches, pendants, earrings and even a sterling silver hair comb and pocket watch. Nearly all of the pieces are worn by Mia Goth, who portrays Elizabeth Lavenza, Victor Frankenstein’s love interest, a role that demanded an opulent yet emotionally resonant visual identity.

One remarkable piece adorning Goth is a stunning necklace from 1900, featuring an impressive 40.45 carats of European cut diamonds set in gold and platinum, further exemplifying the caliber of pieces selected for the film. Goth even wore a Tiffany & Co. necklace to the film’s Venice Film Festival premiere; the diamonds and emeralds paired perfectly with her Christian Dior gown. Charles Dance, portraying Leopold Frankenstein, carries the distinguished pocket watch, a subtle but powerful symbol of legacy and time. The one-of-a-kind pieces are not just props, but works of art that extend Tiffany’s creative legacy onto a new platform.

The collaboration also signals something larger happening in fashion and film: an appreciation for authenticity and craftsmanship in storytelling. Audiences are increasingly attuned to detail, and the right accessory can be as telling as a line of dialogue. Tiffany’s participation demonstrates how jewelry, often seen as merely decorative, can become a central storytelling device: an emblem of status and transformation.

Del Toro’s films are known for their attention to detail and ability to blend beauty with the macabre, and Frankenstein is sure to be no exception. The inclusion of Tiffany jewels adds a layer of elegance that plays against the darker themes, creating a striking contrast. Just as del Toro reimagines Mary Shelley’s classic tale for a modern audience, Tiffany reintroduces its heritage in a way that feels alive and relevant.

Frankenstein will first arrive in select theaters on October 17, allowing viewers to experience the full cinematic spectacle that del Toro’s visual storytelling demands. The film will then reach global audiences when it debuts on Netflix on November 7, ensuring that this showcase of jewelry artistry and gothic storytelling reaches viewers worldwide.
