It’s New York Fashion Week and mini shoulder Baguettes are back with short straps, horizontal profiles and major style. No butter needed.
Italian fashion house Fendi celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Fendi Baguette and staged a fashion show in the iconic bag’s honor during New York Fashion Week.
The much-loved handbag was the inspo for creative director Kim Jones’ latest collection for Fendi. Kate Moss, Grace Jones, Naomi Watts, Christy Turlington and Kim Kardashian were seen on the red carpet showing off their Baguettes, while the OG, Sarah Jessica Parker sat like a queen in the front row with her contrasting Baguette.
Models walked down the catwalk in fleece jackets with Baguette-shaped pockets, charms featuring the purse motif hung from the waistbands of miniskirts. The winter season accessories like beanies, baseball caps and gloves were adorned with Baguette-shaped pockets.
The iconic bag’s shape was designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi and debuted in 1997. The Baguette exploded in popularity in the 2000s when Parker’s character, Carrie Bradshaw, carried the it bag on Sex and the City.
It was Parker who once again brought that bag back into vogue when Carrie Bradshaw again carried the bag in And Just Like That…
Last year, the Baguette was one of the most searched handbags across popular reseller sites, and with all the rage for the Baguette, we’re seeing the inspiration reflected across other brands as well.
Here are some Baguettes we’re loving this fall.
