Understand that I love a good steak, and indeed, few places do it better than The Americano. With a culinary director like Beau MacMillan working with executive chef Peter McQuaid, these two Food Network favorites are channeling an elevated approach to the top-of-the-menu appetizers, making it hard to read down the page. Sometimes, I like to graze my way through apps instead of ordering dinner.
One evening at this North Scottsdale hot spot, I enjoyed a lovely dinner out with a dear friend and limited our order to the top quarter of the new menu, which marks the first offering by the notable duo.

What I love about The Americano is that it’s got a supper-club vibe that feels like a hideaway from the world. I like the leather booths that offer a front-row seat to the open kitchen and wood-fired grill. The bar provides inventive craft cocktails, and the wine list is one of the best in town. The service is always great when I’m there.
The revamped menu features the core elements of The Americano’s identity, including prime steaks, housemade pasta, and seafood from the Med. It features new touches to enhance the guest experience, like the immersive tableside mozzarella experience. A few notables that caught my eye on the new entrée side are the Maine Lobster Risotto for two, Chilean Seabass with blistered tomatoes, parsley, capers and citrus (my favorite preparation!) and a Volcano Pork Shank with parmesan and sage polenta. And don’t miss “Beau Mac’s” truffle mac and cheese.
For starters, we ordered The Americano Tableside Mozzarella with heirloom tomatoes, basil, balsamic glaze and sea salt. Absolutely delish. I love proteins, so we also requested the Terra Heritage Wagyu Beef Carpaccio with celery, walnuts, truffle, pickled shallot and gorgonzola, and the Ahi Tuna Crudo with butter olives, capers, petit herbs, pistachio and ruby red grapefruit to begin dinner…yum! (Apparently, I could survive without any cooking appliances at home.)

We also ordered the Roasted Bone Marrow with Fresno chili jam, parsley salad, caramelized onions, capers and grilled bread, and the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail with gulf whites, pickle spice and horseradish remoulade…just because it looked so good! The bone marrow was generous, savory and perfectly paired with my white wine.

Also on the starter menu are Meatballs with Pomodoro, Little Neck Clams in smoked tomato broth, oysters and, why not…caviar.
See, you can enjoy an entire night out at the top of the menu.
