This new authentic Italian restaurant in the Biltmore Fashion Park in Phoenix will take you on a journey of culinary excellence.

Ambrogio15 is a new Italian restaurant in Phoenix that represents the perfect balance between upholding tradition with its authentic Italian cuisine and embracing innovation with creative craft cocktails. It gives restaurant-goers the opportunity to experience the past and the future of dining simultaneously.

The restaurant’s menu was hand-crafted by Michelin-starred chef Silvio Salmoiraghi of Ristorante Acquerello in Milano and Executive Chef Fabio Pizzigoni. They curated a vast menu of delectable pasta, Italian-cooked steaks, a raw bar featuring oysters and crudo and authentic-style pizzas.

To accompany this fantastic menu, the new restaurant in Phoenix also curates an impressive selection of organic Italian wines. It showcases craft cocktails from the mind of award-winning mixologist Marco Russo, owner of Bar 1930 in Milan, consistently ranked in the 50 best bars in the world.

“We brought Russo on as a consultant to design the cocktail menu,” says Fabio Bascon, partner of Ambrogio15. He created 13 cocktails for our menu, and they are spectacular.”

What truly distinguishes Ambrogio15 is its rich ties to family tradition and culture. With almost all the ingredients imported from Italy, Chef Pizzigoni can replicate his family recipes on every plate.

“The oxtail stands out to me because it is a part of my history,” Chef Pizzigoni recalls. “This dish has been a tradition in my family since I was a kid.”

“We love to storytell. Every dish, every cocktail, and every wine has a history and a story. There is a reason why it is on the menu, and we love to tell that story of where it came from, how we made it, and why it’s on the menu,” Bascon adds.

Chef Pizzigoni is a world-class chef who started cooking at just ten years old. Throughout his life, he has created exquisite food at several five-star restaurants. Working in top European restaurants, Pizzigoni brought his fine-dining expertise to Phoenix, giving customers a sterling experience.

“Authentic Italian food is all about simple but high-quality ingredients,” Chef Pizzigoni says. We want to show the people here how Italians cook because we only use fresh ingredients, make our broths in-house, and import fresh vegetables daily. This is how we want to show people the difference between us and other restaurants.”

With a warm welcome from the Arizona community, Bascon expresses his gratitude: “The community has been great, the feedback has been awesome, everyone has been very welcoming and supportive, and that means a lot,” he says.

Every dish, every cocktail, and every wine has a history and a story.

I recently had the opportunity to dine there, so I brought my dad, the biggest Italian cuisine enthusiast I know. Having spent four years in Italy, he knows more about authentic Italian dishes than I do. We walked through the large glass doors with empty stomachs and eyes wide.

The interior was elevated and inviting, with linear lighting spanning across the ceiling and dropping down to the main bar area; there wasn’t a seat in the house with bad lighting. We were escorted to a green booth and immediately scanned the menu. Of course, my eyes went straight to the cocktail list.

With a wide array of cocktails to choose from, I had my heart set on the Brazilian Punch, a light and fruity cocktail made with Avua Amburana, Casamigos Cristalino, lime, guanabana, guava and rose water. The tropical flavors from the guanabana and guava mixed with the crispness of the Casamigos were just the kicks I needed to get me started for what would be a fantastic dinner.

Craft Cocktail

We started the evening with six east-coast oysters on the half shell, garnished with wild garlic and lemon caviar. The distinct flavor of the oysters was perfectly balanced by the tartness of the lemon, making this dish light and refreshing.

My dad’s starter pick was none other than the filet mignon carpaccio. The paper-thin filet is garnished with capers and drizzled with olive oil and Parmigiano sauce. Rich with flavor, the carpaccio can best be described as delectable and perfectly cooked. Our plate went back empty, and we contemplated ordering seconds.

For my main course, I ordered the Truffle Tagliolini, made with delicious homemade Italian tagliolini noodles, a velvet-smooth parmigiano sauce—aged 36 months—and freshly shaved French truffles for an elevated flavor. This dish embodies the classic simplicity of authentic Italian cuisine while still presenting the profound flavor of the truffle and Parmigiano.

While I was craving pasta, my dad had his eyes on a much heftier entree: the grand 30-day dry-aged 32-ounce T-bone steak. The premium Angus beef steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare temperature per his request. Cooked and plated with a bundle of rosemary, the steak had an herbal essence present with every bite.

“We first cook the steak with salt,” Chef Pizzigoni explains. “We then let it sit for 10-15 minutes to relax, and then finish the steak in the oven with butter and thyme.”

The T-bone steak was divine in every way. It was one of the best-cooked steaks both my dad and I have ever had.

To finish our evening, we ordered the classic tiramisu. Presented in a simple red bowl, it contained a single layer of espresso-soaked lady fingers, fluffy mascarpone and a thin blanket of cocoa powder; everything about this dessert was perfect.

Ambrogio15 is now a favorite of mine for Italian food in Phoenix. There are still so many items on the menu I am eager to try, like their decorative charcuterie board, signature pizzas, and “Mare e Terra” section.

“We want people to try the whole package; while we have amazing Italian cuisine, we also have great craft cocktails and a vast selection of organic wines,” Bascon says. “We want our customers to have the full experience when they dine here. Start your night with a cocktail and as you order your dishes, order a glass of wine to try everything. Our menu is designed to be shared; we want everyone at the table to have a shared experience.”

Ambrogio15 is a must-try for your next outing. Not only is the food amazing, but it’s fresh, which is crucial as longevity continues to be adopted and prioritized in our daily lives. Ambrogio15 has certainly made its mark in Phoenix, and I can’t wait for it to become a staple restaurant in the community.
