The Eye for Design series invites designers to collaborate with auction houses.

DOYLE is a family-owned, luxury auction business in New York City. For many years, DOYLE has facilitated the buying and selling of precious art, expanding art collections of enthusiasts worldwide. As a leader in the field already, DOYLE continues to push the envelope of creativity by creating the Eye for Design series, an auction series where the gallery collaborated with prominent interior designers, crafting bespoke vignettes to showcase the art in a livable setting.

“We wanted to elevate the auction event,” Milan Tessler, fine art specialist, says. “We came up with the idea to start the Eye for Design series…where designers bring their taste and approach to design.”

The auction gallery has worked with design experts such as Pappas Miron and Marine Hartogs, featuring pieces from renowned artists such as Peter Max, Zaha Hadid, Janet Fish and Guy de Rougemont.

“It was fun because the designers had free reign in a way,” Tessler explains. “ I hadn’t worked this closely with a designer before, they sent me mockups of what spaces would be like as if I was a client, it was really interesting.”

The design experts curate art pieces that will be featured in DOYLE’s sale and display them in a curated space, showcasing their expertise in the field while showing how these pieces going up for auction could be shown and used in a home.

The series allows interior design experts to promote their brand and expertise, while showing potential bidders at auction how highlighted pieces could be displayed, making the bidding process less daunting.

The clever collaboration between the gallery and designers paves the way for the future of art auctions, making the experience more immersive than ever before.
