Hermes may be best known for its silk scarves and handcrafted leather goods, but the company also creates limited edition board games crafted from leather and wood. Hermes has unveiled chessboards and checkers sets, and this year’s newest game is a $41,400 palissander wood and calfskin mah-jongg set. Mah-jongg name means “squabbling sparrows” in Mandarin and refers to the scuffling sound the 144 tiles make.
