Haven’t you heard? Neutrals are out, and color is in. For the past decade, home interiors have been defined by the understated — crisp whites, cool grays and soft beiges. But today, designers and homeowners are not shying away from rich, bold and nuanced palettes that command attention rather than deflect it. And Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year is one of them.
The ICONIC color, Silhouette AF-655, is a blend of charcoal and espresso hues. It marries shades that offer warmth, depth and sophistication, which lends to its inspiration: the tailoring of a refined suit.
“The connection between fashion and interiors has always been a source of inspiration, but this year in particular, we’ve noticed a renewed interest in suiting and classic silhouettes, the resurgence of timeless pieces and the growing interest in the brown color family,” says Andrea Magno, director of Color Marketing & Design at Benjamin Moore. “Silhouette embodies these qualities with its depth and luxurious blend of burnt umber and delicate charcoal undertones. Like a perfectly tailored suit, this hue has the versatility and softness to bring a space from expected to exceptional.”
The hue was created alongside seven colors that also appear in the Benjamin Moore Color Trends 2026 palette, some whimsical, like the soft rosy violet Batik AF-610, and others offering cooler tones, such as Raindance 1572, a steely green with gray undertones. Regardless of the color, the palette was curated to provide designers and homeowners with a complete set of colors that offer a refined essence without compromising character.
While it can be tempting to reserve rich shades such as Silhouette for smaller, more reserved spaces, like a quaint powder bathroom, hues like this shouldn’t be hidden away. Instead, the color can provide warmth and character to communal spaces, including foyers, living rooms and dens, where it can serve as an eye-catching focal point. Paired with plush furniture, textured draperies and curated accents, Silhouette lends itself as more than just a paint color; it’s an entire mood.
