Beautiful Pool House Renovation by Far Studio

The exterior of the structure was built with a combination of stone, burnt Cedar wood siding and glass and was covered with a black metal roof. The marriage of these materials gives the exterior building a sophisticated look while still connecting with the natural materials of the land around it.

The flooring was constructed with a porcelain tile, which is ideal for durability in case water tracks into the home from the pool outside. Large sliding glass doors facilitate an unmarred connection between the interiors and exteriors.

“We added natural materials from the stone flooring to the stone on the bar and fireplace,” Hakimfar explains. “The white oak ceiling paired with this stone really gave the home more of a West Coast influence.”

The interior of the pool house was designed to be a continuation of the homeowner’s main home. The interior walls are clad with beautiful lime plaster, opening up the space, while the tongue and groove white oak ceiling paired with white oak beams adds warmth to the space. All the cabinetry and millwork are custom-made with blackened ash and granite counters with a leathered finish tying in the colorway of the steel roof and adding a hint of modernism.

“Something consistent through all of my designs is the incorporation of warm, textured, livable interiors,” Hakimfar says. “I always want spaces to feel livable, and I feel this pool house feels warm, like a room that you could use throughout the season, whether it’s being used in the summer or in the winter.”

Stunning furnishings such as leather accent chairs, a plush sectional, and coastal-inspired lighting pendants bring the California lifestyle to the lush terrain of Pennsylvania. In its entity, the pool house boasts a fully finished lower-level bathroom with a bedroom, a living room and a full bath, which is ideal for housing guests or family members for an extended period.

“We really went for a West Coast vibe,” Hakimfar says. “So we wanted to design something that felt a bit forward-thinking, a little bit cool, something different from what you would typically see but also still connected to the main home in terms of design and materials.”

The bathrooms are standout features within the home; vibrant teal and green tiles line the shower walls and floor, while matte black faucet finishes add a stark contrast, allowing the bathroom to have a feeling of zen. The other bathroom features all-black zellige tiles with brass fixtures, giving the space a more masculine feel.
