Meet Andrés Anza, a spectacular artist and sculptor who creates abstract and ambiguous pieces that leave the viewer mesmerized. His use of ceramics to craft his pieces to appear as if they are drooping over the edges of their pedestals and feature hidden folds and openings under a surface blanketed in small spikes is nothing short of elite artistry.
The unique textured sculptures create the sense of invitation and guardedness simultaneously, pushing and pulling the viewer in and out of the intricate piece before them.

Anza was born in Monterrey Mexico in 1991. His passion for art led him to graduate with a Bachelor’s of the Arts from the University of Monterrey in 2014. Since then, Anza has honed his craft to abstract sculptures, utilizing his creativity through ceramics to create amorphous beings that seem to belong to a known ecosystem but result unrecognizable because they are extracted from abstract imagination.
The feeling of familiarity from Anza’s pieces along with the intricate texture work allow his work to be interpreted and appreciated in many different ways. His work has gained recognition internationally, appearing in numerous exhibitions in the city of Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City,
of which the Emerging Art Biennial and the UNAM Biennial stand out. Anza is also exhibited in different cities in the United States, Italy and Denmark.
